Selective recovery of vanadium pentoxide from spent catalysts of sulfuric acid production: Sustainable approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
Abstract Spent vanadium catalysts of sulfuric acid production (main elemental composition in wt%: 7.5 V, 9.1 K, 10.2 S, 23.2 Si and 1.4 Fe) can be used as a secondary source vanadium. Extraction was studied using two-step leaching (acidic reductive) spent with further oxidizing solutions. The factors hydrolysis temperature, concentration (H2SO4, Na2SO3) ((NH4)2S2O8) reagents, solid/liquid ratio, mixing parameters, time thermohydrolysis were systematically investigated. solubility V2O5 investigated function pH solutions, Na2SO3. kinetics reduction also studied. yield after recovery 98 wt% acidic pH 1.2–1.3) ultrasonic treatment for 5 min at ambient followed by reductive 0.01 Mol/L Na2SO3 solution 15 min temperature. highest extraction from solutions obtained through 30 wt%. (NH4)2S2O8 molar ratio n(V2O5)/n((NH4)2S2O8) 5/1 reaction 80–90 °C. the extracted product purity 85–87 wt%. technological scheme has been developed to recycle all products sub-products

Recovery of Platinum and Palladium from the Spent Petroleum Catalysts by Substrate Dissolution in Sulfuric Acid
In this study, the recovery of platinum and palladium from petroleum catalysts has been elaborated using a method consisting mainly of dissolving alumina substrate in sulfuric acid thereby concentrating the precious metals in the residue. The effect of dissolution temperature and time, concentration of sulfuric acid, and pulp density on the dissolution of alumina substrate was investigated syst...
متن کاملrecovery of nickel from spent catalysts by hydrometallurgical method
there are no appreciable amounts of nickel resources in iran; therefore, secondary resources of this element are to be more considered in future. spent nickel catalysts that are used in various industrial processes are one of them. for example nickel catalyst that is used in hydrogenation of edible oil have large amounts of nickel and they are generally supported on porous materials like silica...

TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center, Chemistry Institute, 41470 Gebze, Kocaeli, Turkey Email: [email protected] Activated carbon-supported palladium catalysts are liable to progressive deactivation even in the absence of any gaseous contaminants during the oxidation of hydrogen under ambient conditions. The high value of palladium coupled with environmental considerations means that n...
متن کاملRecovery of molybdenum from spent hydro-refining catalysts by soda ash roasting - A statistical approach
In the present study, a hydro-refining spent catalyst with an alumina base has been taken into consideration. It is mostly used for the recovery of molybdenum. The spent catalyst constitutes around 21 pct of molybdenum as molybdenum oxide. The study has revealed that at temperature lower than 600C, it is possible to recover an appreciable quantity of molybdenum from the spent catalyst. The stat...
